MotionClone turns a reference video into a HyperFrames project with editable text, shapes, artwork, and animation code. Use it when the timing and movement in an existing clip are a better starting point than a blank timeline.
Start with motion the app can reconstruct
Clear typography, flat shapes, simple transitions, and short graphic sequences are practical starting points. Tiny text, photographs, unfamiliar fonts, and complex 3D footage can differ substantially from the reference.
The local app accepts a public video link or uploaded file. Documented input limits are 120 seconds and 250 MB. Use a reference you own or have permission to adapt.
From reference to editable project
- Install and launch the local Windows app, then connect your ChatGPT account through Codex.
- Upload your reference or paste its public HTTPS video link. Choose whether to retain the original audio.
- Select Rebuild video. MotionClone analyzes reference frames and reconstructs the scene as HyperFrames layers.
- Compare original and rebuilt playback. Inspect text, geometry, scene timing, and missing imagery.
- Download the editable project ZIP, change its text, colors, and timing, and preview before rendering.
What editable means here
The output is a code-based HyperFrames project. Generated scenes use project.json and a sync command; authored scenes use scene JavaScript and tokens.css. Follow the README included in your export.
This is not an After Effects project file. The editable ZIP excludes the original reference video and reference screenshots. Rebuilt video and comparison MP4 downloads are separate export choices.
A useful first experiment
Choose a short title animation with one headline and a few moving shapes. Rebuild it, replace the headline with your own, adjust the palette, and render a second version. Compare the two to identify exactly what needs correction before attempting a longer sequence.
